A Day in the Neighbourhood – King Edward and Cambie

Here at Key Marketing, we are all very excited about the first project launch of 2018! The project is called Marquise, and it is a boutique collection of 58 homes located across from the King Edward skytrain station along the Canada Line. In between finalizing the presentation centre, organising the launch event, training the sales staff, we thought why not document what a typical day would be like in this neighbourhood to provide more context.

I documented my day with ‘Instagram Stories’ from the moment I arrived at the King Edward Skytrain station, so if you follow us at @keymarketing on Instagram, you’ll have briefly experienced what it would be like to live in the neighbourhood. If not, here’s how my day went.

My New Year’s Resolution definitely does not include cutting back on caffeine, and within 6 minutes of arriving at the Canada Line station, I was caught between the ultimate choice of Starbucks or JJ bean, which are two cafes right across from one another on Cambie and 19th. What do you think I ended up getting?

I knocked out some emails, checked off some to-do’s at JJ Bean, and decided to get some air. Douglas Park, which is only a 10 minute walk from the cafe, is a great park to stroll around while enjoying a sunny day, a rare occasion for Vancouver winters.

My lunch decision was simple yet complex due the number of choices that are available in the area. Restaurants and shops like Landmark and Vij’s are all within a 10-minute walking distance from Marquise. I chose to have a quick and delicious lunch at Copa Cafe.

My afternoon consisted of getting over my food coma, resisting the urge to go for ice cream at Rain or Shine, and checking off more to-do’s for work. When dinner time rolls around, having a grocery store like Choices in the neighbourhood gives me the option of getting fresh produce and other grocery items for when I eat at home.

My day in the neighbourhood ended here although you can find plenty of other things to do like visiting the Hillcrest Community Centre for a workout (swim, skate, run…you can do everything here!) after dinner.

After immersing myself in the King Edward + Cambie neighborhood for the day, I would use the word convenience to summarize what it would be like to live here. Transit, restaurants, cafes, pet store, child care, medical clinic, parks are all within walking distance.
